AN ACTION-PACKED RIDE THROUGH THE HEART OF AMERICA 'S GRUNGE CUL TURE
SYNTHETIC Bl PRODUCTS is a poignant coming of age story set in the heartlands of American slacker culture. Orleigh is a 19-year-old bisexual girl who sets out on a whirlwind journey of sexual escapades, drug-induced hallucinations, shoplifting sprees, and other criminal behaviour. Searching for identity and meaning, she runs wild through a landscape of lost teenagers - the mall rats, punks, Deadheads, freaks and grunge kids of the early 90s - first in Chicago then on to LA.
Though she might feel lost herseif at times, tne undaunted, wise-cracking Orleigh never shies away from any kind of extreme experience, or from expressing her opinions. Sexy and romantic, a fast-paced story of lust, deception, and heartache, SYNTHETIC Bl PRODUCTS is a compelling and original novel narrated in a bold, fresh, funny voice.
"This is a masterful debut." - Henry Flesh, award-winning author of Michael and Massage
"..combines the drugged-out zaniness of a Grateful Dead concert with the obsessive, depressive romance of an old Cure song." - Lauren Sanders, author of Kamikaze Lust
"Orleigh wends her way through a Midwestern suburban wasteland of Gen-Y anomie,
dead end jobs, petty crime, sex, and drugs, until she is saved by the transformative
power of love." - Kate Christensen, author of In the Drink
